Band Camp @ Madison July 30th

Band Camp,http://www.jjobandcamp.com/ , was going on Saturday, July 30 in Madison, the very next day after the Pop Evil show in Neenah on Friday, July 29.

I left a little late and arrived to the Madison area motel at around 2. The motel was only over 2 miles away from the Alliant Energy Center Area, but had to get there in a hurry. Don't want to take the car over there, because of possible problems later. So, called a taxi over, and he dropped me off @ the Willow Island area, where Band Camp was already underway. Got there early enough and caught Pop Evil's entire set on the Main Stage! I must be nuts since I seen them the night before, then drive to Madison! They did a 30 minute set. Leigh didn't lose his whole voice from last night in Neenah! One difference is that Leigh did something  there for “Last Man Standing” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP7EU9GsknE

Each band that played, (Volbeat,Clutch, All That Remains, Egypt Central, Saving Abel, etc) were great shows, even though they were about 30 min each. http://youtu.be/xWWS8DRiEpY ,

It kept the day moving. The droid battery died at the beginning of the Clutch's set. I remembered to bring a spare battery and changed to that. Glad I did! Because, I caught Clutch and the headliner, Five Finger Death Punch! Talk about Moshing and Body Surfing!

In the crowded mosh pit, some guy spilled his cherry doctor lemonade drink all over the front of my shirt! First, I was ticked, then realized that we are in a rock concert, accepted his “sincere” apology and told him to have fun! Think I got the audio on video...

Didn't know until FFDP's set that there was an afterparty, with more bands, at a bar that was 8 miles away from my motel. So that's why there was a lot of people waiting for the shuttle bus on the way back to the motel! Got too tired from the night before, drive, all day sun, mosh pit fun, and the DUI risk to go. I'll see about catching the next afterparty!
After the concert, all the cars were packed in getting out. With no car with me, getting a taxi in the after concert mess would be next to impossible. So, had to walk the 2 miles through city streets, using the droid GPS, back to my motel. Overshot the motel street and walked back. Think I was more of a target carrying a Papa Johns Pizza box in hand!

The next day, woke up an hour before my droid alarm clock. I stumbled to the hallway. The motel had a free continental breakfast available. Except, there's nothing safe enough to eat. “Apples not rinsed prior to consumption”. They had a waffle iron that is only on from 6 to 9. Their padlocked refrigerator was opened with some some strawberries (looked a little old) and waffle batter cups available. The main deal-breaker is, their waffle batter cups are in different shades of green! There goes that option. So had leftover Papa Johns Pizza, got ready and checked out..

With the crazy crowds and atmosphere, Band Camp is a definite GO for next year! I would have never went to this because of the distance and getting the tickets to an event I never experienced. With the tickets in hand and there are multiple big name bands playing at the same time. It's worth the trip. Have some tales from the Pit!

Thanks Razor!!

Pop Evil @ Razor / Ridgeway Bar, July 29th

Made it out to the Pop Evil acoustic recording event, in the Woodward Building, on Friday afternoon. I only expected a couple of members, but the whole band showed up! There were a larger group of people than usual, (band, some of the Razor/WAPL staff, other listeners), so the they made one of their meeting rooms available. Better than being crammed into the studio! It was treat being able to see them perform live! Talking to them was a trip too! Leigh said that they arrived from Florida, just as hot!  Oh yeah, we all received autograph copies of their War of Angels CD and Razor swag. The pics are on the site... There was supposed to be a video of their performance somewhere...
--------------
After friends and I went Outback for dinner, our group arrived to the Ridgeway Bar in Neenah. Found the bar was a little busy, with warmup bands playing. They were pretty good.

Then, Pop Evil was on stage and brought the house down with their show! And, they were playing in  Band Camp, in Madison, the next day (more on that later)

After their show was done, one of the buddies had to drive back to Green Bay. The problem is that we all arrived in his car. I wanted to stay.   While there was nothing going on at the time, we rode back to T.G.I. Fridays to get our own cars, then I drove back to Ridgeway.

When I got back, the band was out, mixing in with fans, Borna, and Elwood. I heard Leigh said earlier about drinking Hand Grenades. Never tried it myself, so I got one at the bar. That's a good hit drink!

Leigh arrived to the bar area, and was chatting to me on what's going on. Someone suggested about getting a group toast with Hand Grenades. Borna included me on that toast and it was covered. All the pics of that toast was taken and posted by Brian, that runs wiparty.com.  http://www.wiparty.com/PhotoGallery/

After things are slowing down, I said to Elwood that the next stop is Band Camp!

Razor One Club Golf Outing July 8th 2011

Before the outing, I practiced on the driving range with the 7 iron, from last years outing.  After 60 swings, I broke the club!  The club part flew on the backswing! (From too much digging)  At least no one was behind me.  Had to buy a replacement Oversize 7 club at Goodwill on Thursday night, the day before the outing.

After finding the course (via the Droid X Navigation), that was a great time messing around on Fox Hills Resort!  I even brought bright yellow golf balls, so we can see them better.  Still lost a couple! It's an improvement. (since I lost 7 last time!)  The good part is, that our group didn't win highest score, again!

The second half was good, with me talking smart with couple of other "happy" golfers and beer cart girls, while we closed down the Fox Hills bar. We were supposed to go to Time Out Sports Bar in Manitowoc.  Guessing everyone flaked out, but I did passed a squad car pullover on the way there!

After having a late meal at Time Out, started heading back to Appleton.  Getting sidetracked in Green Bay. That was a long night!

UFC132 @ Hooters.....

Ended up going there because, of the specials it had over the other place, and they serve pitchers!  So much wanted to make a wisecrack while Taylor was pouring my drinks in front of me. Only to break her concentration! The rest of the scenery distracted me more than usual!

The assistant manager gave me a fight card to make my winner picks from.  I was right on every match, except for the main event.  The bar manager drew my card out of all the others that missed a match too. I won the prize of the night, a Fathead lifesize cutout poster of Georges St. Pierre and 50 free wings!  What would I do with a 6 foot poster?! Sold it right away, should have Ebayed it!!

At least, I have 50 free wings!
